Floral Attractions

The Shrewsbury Flower Show in 2018 featured TV personalities, celebrity chefs, singers and spectacular arena acts entertained the crowds for 12 hours on each day, ending with a magnificent finale and firework display.

The show is one of the country’s Premier Flower Show events, attracting top exhibitors from all over the country. It has a small permanent staff and over 100 volunteers who manage and organise the whole event, from traffic flow, marquee and services contracts, publicity and marketing, public safety, catering, entertainment, engaging specialist judges for hundreds of competitive classes etc, and ensuring our visitors have an extraordinary experience with value for money.

The Quarry Marquee

Quarry Marquee, the main floral venue,  is home to the top national nurseries and growers who create stunning displays to admire and inspire.

Judging of the Quarry Marquee takes place on the eve of the Show, which means all the winners can have on display the awards and trophies they received during the two days of the events.

Show Gardens & Floral Train

The popularity of the Outside Show Gardens and also School Show Gardens for young budding designers, grows each year, and with the 2017 theme of ‘Buffalo Bill and the Wild West’ we had a great selection of garden designs from both the young budding horticultural designers and well-seasoned designers alike!  Both categories were judged by the two Celebrity Gardeners this year, Joe Swift and Penny Meadmore who were very impressed by the quality of the displays.  We are proud to announce the Medal, Trophy & Award winners for 2017 below:

The Shropshire Horticultural Society continue to support and promote the younger generation in developing their horticultural skills and passions, therefore, we again had the Floral Train category for local Primary School children within Shropshire to enter a carriage with a floral display.  The theme for 2017 was ‘Dining on the Orient Express’ whereby the students received a combination of herbs and flowering edible plants to nurture and then create their own carriage design ready for the two Celebrity Gardeners, Joe Swift and Penny Meadmore, to judge on the Friday morning.  We had 20 applicants this year and the top 6 winning carriages were displayed at Portmadog’s Harbour Station by the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highlands Railways for the rest of the Summer holidays.  We are proud to announce the Award winners for 2017 below:

The Severn Marquee

Severn Marquee is home to the various societies, amateur growers plus Bees, Honey and Wine exhibitors. Competition is fierce amongst the amateur growers who provide some wonderful displays. Judging took place on Friday morning before the Show opens.

The Dingle Marquee

Dingle Marquee is home to the popular Floral Art Exhibitors and the WI.

Lecture Theatre and ‘Our Future Marquee’
